Do you have combination skin and struggle daily with blackheads in your midsection and dry, red, irritated cheeks? It’s probably related to your poor skincare routine choices. Combination skin care is complicated: it requires fighting shine in the T-zone and maintaining adequate moisture on the rest of the face.
Here we’ll give you some examples of combination skin care products, explaining their characteristics:
- A day cream,
- A night cream,
- A mask,
- A scrub,
- A serum.
Adopting the right skincare product for combination skin is not easy: it is a type of skin that is not easy to treat because it has two distinct areas with very different, even contradictory, characteristics.
The famous T-zone, located in the face’s center, is often oily and tends to suffer from imperfections. It is a victim of excessive sebum production, the cause of shine that appears throughout the day, and other unpleasant signs, such as pimples or blackheads.
Then, on the cheeks and periphery of the face, the skin will generally be normal to dry, implying the use of a specific care product, depending on the area.
A good skincare routine is essential when you have combination skin to keep it glowing and clear up blemishes daily.
Gentle cleansing
Combination skin, like oily skin, needs a thorough cleansing, but not an aggressive one. It is relatively sensitive to overly astringent products and will tend to be even more oily when in contact with this type of cosmetics.
Therefore, think of opting for a richer cleanser, in gel or bar, which will purify, while respecting the skin’s hydrolipidic balance. Without aggression, it will not be reactive.
Targeted makeup removal
Makeup removal involves the same necessities, with the use of a product that can remove makeup in depth to avoid the formation of blackheads and pimples without the skin being too dehydrated. Dryness encourages even greater sebum production and produces the opposite effect to that desired.
Therefore, it would help if you opted for a gentle product, such as a makeup remover milk (but not too rich so as not to over-grease the skin), a mousse, or any other product that can remove makeup residue without aggression.
Mask and scrub: remember to target
The scrubs for combination skin are the same as those for oily skin. The aim will be to remove excess oil from the skin gently. Be careful not to repeat scrubs too often during the week to avoid multiple aggressions and an unpleasant skin reaction.
You can use a micro-grain scrub or, why not, a face brush, which will be able to remove dead cells very gently.
For the mask, proceed in two steps: apply a clay mask, purifying and anti-bacterial, on the T-zone. You can treat the rest of the face with a moisturizing mask.
Creams to use
Opt for a medium moisturizing cream for combination skin to be applied all over the face.
Depending on your skin condition, you can also apply an anti-aging cream.
In the evening, if necessary, an anti-imperfection cream can be applied to regulate the affected areas, but in a very localized manner.
An illuminating serum will be ideal to complete the treatment so that your skin is more luminous, as combination skin is often dull.
