We find the fear of aging ridiculous at 20, but the anxiety has increased over the decades. In our 30s, the first wrinkles appear; from age 40 onwards, the skin becomes less supple and thicker. Here is how to stay forever young in 6 lessons!
Although cosmetology is multiplying innovations by avoiding or reducing aging factors, we put all the chances on our side to stay young longer.
Get rid of your sedentary lifestyle
From the age of 20, muscles start to melt. The more you move, the more you exercise, and the more you slow down the inevitable muscle decline. Physical activity also helps to maintain the musculoskeletal system and helps you stay young. The result is that, despite the years, we keep a supple and dynamic figure. Inactivity affects the body, especially the spine: when you move regularly, your back and abs are more muscular, which prevents back pain. By improving circulation, physical activity also plays a protective role against cardiovascular disease. Finally, if you don’t work on your proprioception skills (which determine your sense of balance), they atrophy and increase the risk of falls and injuries. If you’re not a sportswoman at heart, at least trade in your car for a bicycle to do your shopping and walk up five flights of stairs!
Limit tanning
The sun warms you up, but the more you are exposed to it, the more you get burned. Prolonged exposure is one of the most critical factors in skin aging. The skin becomes thinner and crumples, especially on the neckline and face. We can never say it enough: the damage caused by the sun accumulates over the years. Protect yourself effectively if you can’t do without a few hours of tanning. You will thus limit the possible appearance of unsightly spots and the occurrence of benign or malignant tumors.
Take care of your diet
The first consequences of a poor diet are quickly apparent: digestive problems, pimples, a blurred complexion, and fatigue… which disappear as soon as a certain balance is restored. But in the long term, a diet that does not provide all the nutrients, vitamins, and trace elements that the body needs promote aging and increases health risks. The body needs antioxidants, which are found in large quantities in fruits and vegetables, to combat the free radicals that are produced more and more as we age. If you need to lose a few pounds, don’t be tempted by the crazy but tempting diets that promise to get you back to your 20s in a week. Take your time, balance your meals and get help from a dietician if necessary.
Manage your stress
Stress manifestations are immediate and result in an absolute nightmare that paralyzes all actions for some people. A faster beating heart increased frequency and depth of breathing, and vasoconstriction of the blood vessels are the main manifestations of stress. The body and the skin keep a trace of it. The more relaxed you are, the easiest it will be to stay young.
Stress, which aggravates certain pathologies, can be seen on the face. Indeed, the skin, a living organ that communicates particularly well with the nervous system, appears to mirror internal disorders. Learn to be more zen and say goodbye to the small patches of eczema that often reflect your nervousness or fatigue.
Fall in love
A rich and fulfilling emotional life allows you to defend yourself better against the first signs of aging. Menopause, for example, is sometimes experienced very painfully by women who consider their love life a failure. The sexual life participates very actively in the general development of the person. The skin needs to be cared for but also touched and caressed, and massages provide a feeling of well-being. Let people know!
Quit smoking
Smoking causes vasoconstriction of the blood vessels and suffocates the cells. They can no longer breathe and have difficulty regenerating. In concrete terms, this results in a grey complexion, thickening skin, and a loss of elasticity. A single cigarette causes vasoconstriction and a disturbance of oxygenation that lasts more than an hour. Finally, tobacco, which is not the skin’s best friend, “seriously harms your health” to use the established formula.
By moisturizing your skin regularly and following these few tips, you will soon be the envy of your youth.
