Eczema sufferers have hypersensitive and reactive skin with redness and mild scaling. Therefore, a suitable moisturizing base is essential to soften the skin, smooth the flakes, and help hold the makeup.
For very scaly skin, it is better to use a balm rather than a cream. Various dermo-cosmetic manufacturers offer care and makeup ranges for sensitive skin.

How do you apply makeup when you have eczema?
First step: the material
- Moisturizing base (cream or balm)
- Fluid foundation
- Sponge (latex-free in case of allergy)
- Translucent Mozaic powder (except in case of severe eczema)
- Eyebrow corrector pencil
- Mascara for eyes and sensitive skin
- Pencil and lipstick
- Thermal water
A tinted moisturizer may be sufficient to even out the complexion if there is no eczema. In the case of facial eczema, after treatment (dermocorticoids or tacrolimus), a thicker or even more compact foundation can help mask the lesions.
Using a fluid corrective foundation, dabbing with a sponge to even out the complexion.
Remember: if you are allergic to latex, choose a latex-free makeup sponge. Remember to clean and change your sponge regularly.
Step 2: Sublimate the face
Sublimate the skin
Using a translucent mosaic powder to fix the makeup and mattify the skin is a good idea.
Take a small amount of powder with a large brush and tap it on the back of your hand to remove the excess.
Set and mattify by applying the translucent mosaic powder all over the face and neck.
Remember: in the case of severe eczema, avoid powder that would increase itching by drying the skin.
Enhancing the eyes
For the eyelids, it is preferable to wait for eczema to heal before using eye shadow and mascara, always chosen from a “sensitive skin” range.
To intensify the look, draw the eyebrows with an eyebrow corrector pencil. Locate the three points to redraw the eyebrow:
- The starting point of the eyebrow is the line defined by the outer corner of the nostril and the inner corner of the eye.
- The eyebrow top is the line defined by the outer corner of the nostril and the eye pupil.
- The eyebrow end is the line defined by the outer corner of the nostril and the outer corner of the eye.
Apply the correction pencil in small strokes in the eyebrow mass from the bottom to the top. Blend with the tip of the brush to blend the color and obtain a natural result.
Tip: for more hold, powder the eyebrow before and after drawing the shape with a pencil.
Use mascara suitable for sensitive eyes and skin to enhance the eyes.
Place the brush flush with the lashes, then make small zigzag movements from the base to the tip of the lashes. Remember that the mascara’s hollow side intensifies and curls the lashes while the curved side separates them.
Tip: use the end of the brush to separate the lashes at the inner and outer corners
Enhance the mouth
To enhance the mouth, use a lip liner and lipstick.
Tip: if your lips are dry, apply lipstick beforehand and for a more natural effect, use a lip balm instead of lip gloss.
Draw lips contour starting in the middle with the fine tip of the pencil and redraw the areas to be corrected. To increase hold, fill in the inside of the lip with the thin end. Then apply the broad tip from the middle of the mouth to the outside.
Tip: to prolong the hold of the makeup, finish with a fine spray of thermal spring water 20 cm from the face
How to remove makeup and clean the skin?
Makeup removal can be done with a micellar lotion or unscented cleansing milk, but even if the label says “no rinsing,” it is preferable to rinse with water. Using a thermal water spray can be a pleasant solution to finalize the makeup removal.
Removing eye makeup
For gentleness, spray thermal spring water on the cotton pad before applying a gentle makeup remover gel. The water brings freshness and compacts the cotton fibers, so the feeling of softness is more important. If you wish to save time and if the eye makeup is light, use a face makeup remover.
Makeup removal and face cleansing
Favor finger makeup removal, which is less irritating than rubbing cotton wool.
Apply a sufficient amount of makeup remover to your fingers. Use circular movements to remove makeup and impurities from the face gently. Remove the makeup remover with tissues. Complete the makeup removal with a thermal water spray
Tips: choose very soft tissues; the contact with the skin will be more pleasant. To increase the softness of the tissues, spray a fine mist of thermal spring water before applying them to the face.
