Why do we need skincare products? What happens if we do not use them? Those are questions many people wonder about. How to choose good and useful skincare products?
Here is everything you need to know!

Why do we need skincare products?
Using good quality products is important to maintain healthy skin. Actually, we need skincare products for two main reasons: esthetic and health.
Skincare for a healthy skin
When we say skincare, many people think of cosmetic purpose creams and serum. Actually, skincare is essential to protect your skin from threats. UV light can lead to skin cancer, and using sunscreen is crucial to minimize those risks.
Likewise, our skin is exposed to air pollutants as soon as we go out, so if you live in a highly polluted area, better use specific skincare products that act as a protective shield between your skin and the air pollutants.
Skincare for radiant skin
Of course, skincare is also a good way to stay young and pretty. This part of skincare action is not as superficial as it may sound to some people. Looking good helps many people to feel good and confident. It can be a game-changer for mental health.
Many skin conditions such as acne or wrinkles are easily preventable and treatable with a good skincare routine.
It is better and more efficient to prevent skin issues than to fix them. So, being consistent with a quality skincare routine is the best way to have radiant skin.
How to build an effecient, yet minimalist skincare routine?
It is understandable that many people are willing to keep their skincare routine minimal and do not want to spend tons of money on multiple products. However, there is a minimum to maintaining healthy skin.
The first step of this short routine is using a cleanser. This product must be adapted to your skin type and mild to avoid irritation.
Then, use a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. Ideally, go for a day cream containing SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV light. The ideal SPF is above 30.
For those who want to add a little extra to their skincare routine, they can go for an exfoliator to use once to twice a week after cleaning the skin, and before moisturizing it. A serum may be helpful for special skin issues, such as redness. Usually, a serum is used at night as it is richer than a cream.
Make sure you are using high-quality products and reputable brands. Low-quality skin care products may contain harmful ingredients which are linked with cancer development (check our article about skincare and cancer).
It is also important to ensure the products are not expired as using expired skincare products often leads to allergic reactions. Check our article about the expiration of skincare products.
Skincare is selfcare
Last but not least, skincare may have a huge impact on your mental health. Starting the day by washing your face, just like you brush your teeth is great to let your brain know a new productive day just started. Taking care of ourselves is crucial, yet often down looked by our fast and productive world.
Taking fifteen minutes to enjoy a mask after a busy and stressful day is a great way to relax and feel better. It is very beneficial when we know how many health problems we can get because of stress over a prolonged period.
Even if skincare does not make you look better instantly, it does make you feel better and prettier, which is actually the most important.
So, ready to make skincare and self-care a part of your daily routine?
