Best summer skincare routine
A proper skincare routine is crucial throughout the year, including summer. Many people skip skin care while on vacation; it is a big mistake. Your skin needs your attention during the summer as it is exposed to several exterior aggressions.
The first one is logic: the sun! While a moderate amount of sun exposure helps to get vitamin D and improves your mood, excessive sun exposure increases the risk of skin cancer and fastens skin aging. Protecting your skin from prolonged sun exposure during the summer is crucial.
The second exterior aggression is salt from the sea or chlorine from the pool when swimming. Bot tends to dry the skin and make it feel tight and uncomfortable. Skin dehydration often fastens skin aging and aging signs apparition such as wrinkles and fine lines.
Another aggression for people with acne-prone skin is sweating, as sweat is food for bacteria and causes breakouts.
So, here is the best summer skincare routine.
Good morning beautiful!
- Wash your face
It is common and normal for many people to sweat while sleeping in the hot summer months. The best to do when you wake up is to wash your face with water and a mild cleanser to eliminate the sweat and dirt from your skin.
- Moisturize and protect
The second step of your summer skincare routine is using a moisturizer to keep your skin healthy. The best summer moisturizer contains an SPF, but if your favorite moisturizing product does not have UV light protection, you can add an excellent old layer of sunscreen. Remember to reapply sunscreen several times if you are in the sun for several hours. Wearing a cap or a hat may help you to avoid sunburns on your face.
During the day:
Reapply sunscreen on your face and body every one or two hours after bathing. Wear a hat to avoid sunstroke or heat stroke. Wear sunglasses to protect the sensitive skin around your eyes from direct sunlight. Drink enough water to hydrate your skin from the inside.
If your skin is sensitive, ensure to rinse yourself when you get out of the pool or ocean to eliminate chlorine or salt that could make your skin itchy.
At night
Before you hop to bed to get your beauty sleep, wash your face to eliminate sweat, dirt, chlorine, or salt from your busy summer day. Use a mild cleanser. If you want to exfoliate your skin, only do it at night, as freshly exfoliated skin should not be in the sun. Then, apply a night cream or serum adapted to your skin type. If you have dry skin, go for a richer cream or serum to restore your skin’s hydration.
Night time is the best time to use richer products that go deeper into the skin to deliver active ingredients.
Skincare is not just about face! It is essential to take care of your body’s skin too. After a shower, apply a rich balm on your legs, arms, and torso to restore skin hydration and avoid peeling. Suppose, despite following all the previous advice, you got a sunburn on your face or body. In that case, you can use aloe vera gel (ensure it does not contain alcohol) or over-the-counter ointment such as Biafin to help soothe the burn.
Don’t forget your skin while on vacation, adopt a good summer skincare routine!
