Food is vital to staying healthy and an anti-aging ally not to be neglected. Certain foods, with their antioxidant and vitamin C content, are potent guardians of our youth. Here is a shopping list of foods to slow skin aging. Which foods against skin aging?
Let’s face it: aging is a natural and unstoppable process that nothing can stop. However, thanks to the latest cosmetics and a well-chosen diet, we can slow down the rapid pace of aging and limit the effects of time on our skin. Because the skin mirrors our general state of health, we will notice a lousy diet. Conversely, a targeted “anti-aging” diet combined with effective cosmetics helps to improve the tone and radiance of the tissues for skin that looks younger and in great shape.

The power of antioxidants in foods against skin aging
Free radicals are one of the leading causes of premature skin aging. Under the impact of our lifestyle (unprotected exposure to the sun, lack of sleep, smoking, junk food…), their number can considerably increase in the body. These free radicals damage cells, especially skin cells, which lose their ability to reproduce, their elasticity…
Antioxidants found in food are substances that have the power to neutralize these free radicals. Among the leading natural antioxidants in our plate are flavonoids, carotenoids, vitamins C and E, and selenium. For a youthful diet worthy of the name, we should focus on these antioxidant-rich foods: fruits and vegetables, aromatic herbs, spices, green tea, fatty fish, etc.
Anti-aging foods
Blackcurrant
Antioxidants and vitamin C are the basis of the anti-aging cocktail contained in blackcurrants. The good news is that you can find them all year round, especially in the frozen food section.
Raspberry
Raspberry is one of the red fruits that have a strong antioxidant power thanks to its high level of flavonoids. It is one of the foods against skin aging.
Citrus fruits
Vitamin C plays a crucial role in cell oxygenation. Do not hesitate to make fresh fruit juices of oranges, lemons, and pink grapefruit for more beautiful skin.
Exotic fruits
Indeed, this is the fruit category with the highest rate of antioxidants. So we go for kiwi, mango, guava, lychee, or pineapple.
Acai
The ultimate antioxidant super-fruit. Its antioxidant power is far greater than that of red wine, blueberries and blackcurrants combined! You can find it as a berry to add to your cereal and a powder to your smoothies, for example.
Peanuts
They are feared for the figure because they are high in calories. Still, peanuts are also excellent anti-aging food, a source of boron (an anti-aging mineral), antioxidants resveratrol, and vitamin E. We choose unsalted, unoiled peanuts in their shells and eat them with their small skin containing many antioxidants.
Herring
Herring is part of the Viking diet and is well known for its health benefits. Herring is a fatty fish rich in various antioxidants such as vitamin A and selenium. In addition, it contains a large quantity of Omega 3, which protects our cardiovascular system.
Vegetable oils
They are rich in vitamin E, which helps regenerate cells. So add a tablespoon of youth to your salads with wheat germ, sunflower, or grape seed oils.
Goji berries
Available in a dried version that you can add to your muesli or nibble on at any time of day. Goji berries contain numerous antioxidants, such as beta-carotene and flavonoids, which make them excellent anti-aging fruit.
Pomegranate
Pomegranate contains an anti-aging cocktail with antioxidants, folic acid, and polyphenols. For example, let’s sip a glass of pomegranate juice every morning at breakfast.
