It is more a question of maintaining the color of the tan. This is because only UV radiation can trigger the production of melanin (and therefore a tan) by the skin’s specialized cells, the melanocytes. As soon as you are no longer exposed to the sun, the tan is gradually eliminated with the skin’s natural desquamation, i.e., between 3 and 4 weeks. Nevertheless, two techniques practiced at the DermoMedicalCenter in Paris and Brussels allow you to keep your summer glow: superficial peeling and mesolift.
1. If you don't want to keep your tan, you can get glowing skin with a program of superficial peels
The skin has suffered this summer from the sun, wind, sea, and open air. If you want to avoid having a tan that goes away in patches and dull skin, a superficial peel is essential to take good care of your skin at the beginning of the year. Plus, the skin has thickened under the action of the sun and has masked the imperfections that will soon return without targeted intervention.
The solution is to follow a program of superficial peels to be started without waiting for the tan to be removed to keep the summer’s good look. Suppose the start of the new school year is synonymous with the return of acne. In that case, an appointment for a dermatological skin cleansing eliminates all the micro cysts before the pimples appear. We always complete the skin cleansing with a superficial peeling combined with an LED.
At home: The peeling program is optimized by applying a more or less concentrated AHA cream in the evening or a more medical cream based on vitamin A acid prescribed by the doctor.
At the DermoMedicalCenter: You make an appointment for a superficial peeling program without scarring or interruption of your social life.
You can expect radiance, tightened pores, elimination of blackheads and micro cysts, and an even complexion. Allow 2 to 3 sessions for a radiant complexion; 3 to 5 sessions in case of acne.
2. We rehydrate our skin in depth with mesolift injections
Observation: The skin is often dehydrated at the beginning of the school year. The outdoors and sun exposure have damaged it. But dehydrated skin is skin that ages more quickly, and creams are insufficient to rehydrate the skin in depth.
The solution is to inject boosters into the skin with a gel based on hyaluronic acid, vitamins, or, more recently, injections of peptides to plump up the skin, rehydrate it in depth, improve its elasticity and stimulate cell regeneration without increasing or modifying volumes.
How does it work? The injection technique is mesotherapy or mesolift, i.e., multiple shallow points are made with small quantities of product over the entire area to be treated. A local anesthetic cream is applied 40 minutes beforehand.
You can expect an improvement in the quality of the skin of the face, neck, or hands, better skin tone, improved radiance, and correction of fine lines induced by solar aging. Plan for three sessions spaced 15 days to 3 weeks apart for a mesolift session and a session every six months is necessary to maintain the results.
Home solutions to keep your tan
– The superficial layers of the skin are exfoliated with a facial scrub and a body scrub to evenly remove the most superficial layers of the skin that has thickened with exposure to the sun. Choose a gentle facial scrub to avoid irritation, especially for sensitive skin. The proper rhythm: once a week is enough.
– Immediately afterward, moisturize your skin. But be careful; moisturizing doesn’t mean greasing, especially with oily skin, which tends to see blackheads and acne pop up at the beginning of the school year. Choose a cream with a light texture or a gel for these skins.
– A diet rich in lycopene and beta carotene is preferred: carrots are twice as rich in natural beta carotene as cooked; tomatoes are richer in cooked lycopene, as are melons and apricots. Eventually, you can continue the solar capsules taken during the holidays for about three weeks (about three weeks).
– Above all, don’t finish your package of UV sessions at the beginning of the school year to keep your tan longer, or you’ll damage your skin.
